The Department of Lost Nights

HEALTH PROMOTION AGENCY

My copywriter and I were tasked with coming up with a way to encourage young people to say ‘yeah, nah’ to too many drinks. The answer came naturally to us. FOMO. We’d dramatise what happens when you drink too much and miss out on your night - even though, physically, you’re right there in it.

Enter The Department of Lost Nights: a bureaucratic memory removal service. Their office is the limbo you’re forced to sit in, missing out on your night, as strange removal men wheel your memories past you into oblivion. Back in the real world, a mannequin made in your image lives out your epic night for you.

Visually creating this realm was my dream project. I wanted North Korean waiting room meets 80s accountancy firm meets the inside of a brain. An iconic world you wouldn’t want to be in, but couldn’t look away from. With plenty of shoulderpads and taxidermy thrown in for good measure.
